In the spirit of the fasting month, MAB Academy recently shared the blessings of Ramadan with children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Bimbingan at-Taqwa during its annual iftar get-together on Friday, 24 May 2019. About 60 orphans from the charity association were treated with sumptuous feast during breaking of fast and supper (moreh) at the academy’s lobby.
Before the event began, the children were first taken for a tour to MABA Cabin Mock-up area. The intention was to give the children exposure on the aviation industry while at the same time giving them the chance to experience being in a mock-up aeroplane. The children was also taught the history of the national airline at the Heritage.
To commemorate the spirit of giving and sharing, the children also received duit raya, baju raya and other necessities that were donated collectively by all MABA staff. They were presented by the CEO of MABA, Capt. Kamarudin Kamilin. The iftar was later followed by Maghrib, Isya’ and tarawih prayers. To add to the merriment of the night, MABA staff and the children played fireworks together.
This initiative was a combined effort from all MABA staff in giving back to the community and spreading cheer to the less fortunate. Donations were collected from all staff throughout the month of Ramadan. MABA ensured that full Malaysian Hospitality was accorded to the special guests at this event. With the little gesture of goodwill from the team, it is hoped that this will create some long lasting Raya memories for the children this year.
