As the festive season is approaching, Malaysia Airlines today hosted 35 underprivileged children for a special celebration at MAB Academy with its employees. The children were from the Society of St Vincent de Paul, Taman Sri Manja and council homes from Putra Damai Lembah Subang.
Organised by Malaysia Airlines’ cabin crew community, called WELKINs and Inflight Services, this programme is one of three corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities planned during this festive season. The activities included fulfilling the children’s wishes and sending gifts to selected homes and visiting the Orang Asli community in the Orang Asli Belihoi Settlement in Mantin.
The children, aged between 7 to 12, were treated to fun-filled activities and a tour of the Academy’ aircraft mock up area. The event was rounded off with a surprise performance led by the cabin crew dressed in their Christmas themed outfits and joined by the children.
Speaking at the event, Malaysia Airlines Group CEO Captain Izham Ismail, said, “Malaysia Aviation Group strives to give back to the community by providing support to their needs and wellbeing. Today in particular, and in keeping up with the year-end festivities, we are happy to be able to spend some time with the children and spread some Christmas cheer. Spending time with these children is always a memorable experience for us and it is very heartwarming to see their faces light up whenever they see our cabin crew. We hope that this small contribution will go a long way in making their Christmas more meaningful.”
